Happy new week to you and you and YOU!
I’m so excited that I’m off today! Shout out to MLK LOL.
Anyway, happy and empowering vibes is what I want to send over to you! That is why I want to share with you three books that I really find motivating and helpful. Don’t worry, I won’t give away any spoilers.
The first is The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo by Amy Schumer.
I love this book, because although Amy says it’s not a self-help book, it really helped me!
I love it because she narrated it herself, and she’s hilarious (obviously). Through the course of the book, she shares her life and together it’s a compilation of short stories that all reveal important lessons.
The lesson that stuck with me the most is that success takes time. Although it may come off as if it happens over night, it doesn’t. And that’s fine, it’s a part of the journey.
Crush It by Gary Vaynerchuck.
Oh god, no one, I repeat no one motivates me to get up and kick some @$$ like Gary Vee. His self confidence makes you want to be confident too. His success and passion for what he does, makes you want to put your all into what you love as well.
My favorite lesson from Gary is that it’s not about how many people are watching, it’s about who is watching.
Lean In by Sharyl Sandberg
This book is about sitting at the table, not letting yourself be outshone, and to remember to ask for what you want.
Sharyl gave me quite a bit of food for thought. Some interesting points included:
1. Stop holding your career or yourself back for a marriage and kids you don’t even have yet or even know if you will have.
2. Yes day care is expensive, but make the investment and pay for it. The years women take off from work to “save money”, they are actually jeopardizing growth and pay raises within their careers.
I know, I don’t have kids, but it was still interesting to read about career advice for moms and women in general, as it covers valid and interesting points for women in all stages of life.
Have you listened or read any of these books before? Do you reccommend any?
Have a great week!!!
