5 Ways to Cheer Yourself Up

I’m a major dreamer. It’s my best attribute, and my biggest downfall. I dream big and sometimes I bring myself down for not having reached all of what I aspire to accomplish.

With that being said, I’m sure many of us can agree that it seems like we are always chasing happiness.

We want this. We want that. But once we have this AND that AND SOME, we still.want.more.

“If only I could have that, I know my life would actually be perfect. I would be happy.”

The truth is if you can’t be happy and grateful in the now, you might never be.
Happiness is a decision we make.

So I wanted to share some tips with you.

How I cheer myself up in just five simple ways.

1. Reflect on your Blessings

Blessings, advantages, whatever you want to call them. We all have them. As small as they may be, you have to remember to be grateful. I am a firm believer of needing to appreciate your current situation for it to improve. I usually do this when I wake up on my drive to work. I thank God for the smallest things like my functioning vehicle, the fact that I’m employed, and that I’m pretty*… LMAO.

*I’m pretty- I have a healthy self-esteem.

Okay well now that you are grateful for what you already have, you can start working towards what you want.

2. Make a list of Goals & Start Working on them

Something about accomplishing things and overcoming obstacles really makes us feel alive and actually damn good about ourselves. I love jotting my goals down in my planner. It helps me keep my eyes on the prize.

3. Exercise and Cleaning

Two things that will NEVER fail you^

I don’t think anyone has ever thought to themselves “Damn, I really regret cleaning my room today.” or “DAMN, that 2-mile jog today made me feel miserable.” Sure, you might not be all about it in the beginning, but the more you continue to do either, the better you feel. We all love the idea of being fit, healthy and tidy. No doubt about that. A lot of the times when you feel down it’s either your surroundings or your body begging you to give it some love.

4. Make Time for Family and Friends
(and yes, pets do fall under both of these categories.)

When you surround yourself around the right people, you’re able to express yourself or maybe even take your mind off of the negativity all together. Your friends and family KNOW you the best and know what it takes to help cheer you up.

5. Listen to some goooood songs!

My current favorites are:
